Everyone has a story. We're no different, except that our story involves a colourful herd of life-sized cow sculptures painted by some of the most talented artists from around the world. Since 1999, it's grown to include over 5000 artists with events hosted in over 75 cities.
CowParade has become the world's largest public art phenomenon.
CowParade started in Zurich in 1998. The first CowParade event as we know it today was in Chicago in 1999. Since that year CowParade has staged in more than 70 cities around the world celebrating her 15th anniversary in 2014.
The biggest event so far was in New York displaying 450 cows, the smallest event was in Hong Kong displaying 5 cows.
CowParade combines local engagement, public art and charity. Although every event is unique in its sort there are some basic elements to every CowParade event. The Cows are painted by local artitst chosen by the sponsors of the cows, the cows are displayed in a city available for the public for 2 to 4 months, after the event (some of ) the cows are auctioned
of for charity.
More than 5000 life size cows are created by over 10,000 artists. The artists range from well know to unknown. Well known aritst that were involved with CowParade are Marcel Wanders, Rakim Rachid, Oliviero Toscani.
In the 15 year history of CowParade more than 300 million people have seen a cowparade cow somewhere around the world.
A select part of the of the lifesize cows is made into a figurine. The figurine collection contains a great selection of artistic, funny and amazing designs.
